It has a month since I terminated my Angel Triplets & I am missing them day & night. They should be in their week 12 yesterday.

The only consolation is to spend all my time with Ethan. Please bless him with good health.

My Unborn Triplets

Contemplating if I should even talk about the set of unborn triplet siblings Ethan has. No amount of pain to describe the challenge GOD had given. But I failed ….

26th September 2011 – Tested positive = pregnant. Accepted the surprise with mixed feelings thinking it will be the best birthday gift for Ethan’s 3rd birthday – a sibling for him.

18th October 2011 – Went for the 1st Gynecologist appointment & was being told that it is a set of triplets. My world came crashing down. We were not the least prepared for more than 1 kid, let alone having additional 3 more kids into the family.

The 1 week before the decision was made were the downiest days of my life. I lost track of the number of times I cried bitterly asking GOD to enlighten me, quarreled daily, unable to eat due to the drastic hormone changes & severe morning sickness & cannot even fall asleep with so much to think & account for.

As much as I wanted the triplets, certain things are beyond my control. Many factors to consider like huge amount of medical bills, raising cost & logistics to look into & the main factor revolves around the word MONEY. As the saying goes MONEY CAN MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND. I am definitely a staunch believer now. If we are loaded, we can afford to pay for every single expense that is on the list. The amount will not simply end at a few thousands. It will escalate from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. I appreciate the guidance of my gynac on the estimated amount to deliver a set triplet. From there my calculation goes on & on & on.

Many a times I blamed every single soul on my predicament now. Why me..why me.. why me. Why does it happen to me?

The decision to terminate does not purely derive from me alone. Even If I had decided to continue with the pregnancy, we will not be able to afford 2 maids + 4 kids with 3 kids expenses incurring at the same time. I am even doubtful that 2 maids can take care of 4 kids. I am not able to rely on my 70 years old parents to help knowing that they will always be there. How many more years do I want my parents to slog for? With minimum help on hand, I am even more determined.

25th October 2011 –Bid good bye to my Angel triplets. Call me cruel, call me sick, call me brutal. No amount of nasty words can be compared to the pain inflicted on my decision to terminate them. To my dear triplets, I am sorry for terminating this pregnancy & unable to bring you to this world. It had been a week & I am missing you..

During this crucial period, close friends & families hovered around me making me feel so loved & important. You know who you are. Thank you for the efforts. For now, my triplet angels will always hover & protect my one & only Ethan

Dear Ethan,

First major milestone embarked -- you started school on 3rd January 2011. My son, you suffered from separation anxiety when I bid good bye to you & everyday for 2.5 months you cried. During that period I deem myself as a nasty devilish mother who brought so much misery to your life. With the support of close ones around me, I persevered & it paid off.

The bright side of attending school is he will amazes us with new bilingual words, songs, actions & skills you learnt in school. You also get to mingle & play with kids from other races & ages. Your always sharing attitude & courteous to the elders amazes me.

We were at Ikea Tampines one evening, you were so excited to join in with the other kids at the playground. We relented & you were bullied by a girl the same age as you are. Came out of the playground with a huge bruise on the forehead & never even cried. You are a brave kid & you showed me how well behaved you are by not even pushing the girl back.

Acting like mommy

The down side is definitely exposing you to more viruses. Till date, you had fallen sick almost every other month or sometimes twice in a month. This is contributed by the always inadequate amount of water drank. The most severe was the Hand Foot Mouth Disease you got from “duno where” one day after your 1st Malacca trip with papa’s family. As such cousin Eu Young also got infected by the virus.

Consecutively 3 days, you refused to eat for fear that swallowing down the food will cause a lot of pain since there are so many ulcers in your mouth. Coaxed you with every means by offering your favorite food – ice cream, cold drinks & even chocolates but got rejected. We were desperate & helpless. Finally on the 3rd day night, you gave in when we offered you Hersley chocolates.

School is GOOD !!

5 months of school life, the returns I get is incredible.

From being a “parked-in-front-of- TV”toddler to a chatty & expressive boy. This is something a full time working mother might not be able to achieve. I thank the teachers for the excellent skills imparted to him.

Of course it is not 100% rainbow & sunshine throughout the 5th months. Down with tonsillitis – x2 in February, x 2 in April & x 1 in May. Tonsillitis is an infection which resulted in high fever right from the beginning, high fever as high as 40.1. The fever will only subside with the consumption of antibiotic which is often a nightmare for us. Nothing can convince the little one to eat the medicine. Trust me; we had exhaust all ways & means to coax him to eat the medicine.

School is good. He used to be so attached & clingy to his father. Now every morning, he can bid good bye to his father & rattles on the list people working & attending school.

Day 37 of his school life, it finally stopped "raining" at YWCA - AMK branch. I am glad & blessed to have patient teachers who helped the little one to adapt to school. Finally I can say Ethan has stopped crying. His separation anxiety had stopped. Well done kiddo..

A typical morning

8.15am - Mini "business" on his potty

8.30am - Change into school uniform & grumble "bye bye school"

8.45am - Leave for school

8.50am - Reaches school gate - hug mommy, kiss & say "bye bye mommy see you tonight" Runs off to remove his shoes left it on the designated shoe rack, holds teacher's hand & off to the toilet to wash his hands.

Whenever I asked him :-

"Bye bye school!!" This is the little one's favourite quote for now.

From a weekend BP -AMK child, he had upgraded to being a childcare kid(CCK). Milestone he achieved so far...

Day 1 - Cried till he lost his voice

Day 2 - Refused to sleep with the rest of the kids in the room. Slept outside the common area on the wooden bench.

Day 3 - Cried till he poo on his pants.

Day 19 - Still a crying baby suffering from separation anxiety. I wonder how long this anxiety will persist.

Every morning the moment he opens his eyes, he starts to cry which acts as an added stress on me. All the teachers & even the cleaning lady had recognized me as Ethan's mommy.They had reassured me saying "he is a very well behaved kid when you (as in Me) are not around." I see it as Ethan trying to get my attention. Our daily routine :-

7.00am Mommy wakes up - wash up get ready for work & prepare raw food or soup for dinner

8.00am Ethan wakes up

8.30am - 8.45am Goes to school

5.45pm - Mommy leaves work reaches YWCA between 6.15pm - 6.30pm.

6.30pm - 7pm - Either playground / watching TV. Mommy squeezess sometime in between preparing dinner.

7.30pm - Dinner + washing up

8.30pm - Shower

9.00pm - Playtime / reading /watching TV whilst mommy shower, clean up the kitchen wash & iron clothes

10.00pm - 11.00pm - Bedtime for Ethan

Crazy rush for the family everyday. Reckon that we are just one of the typical Singaporean family.

Cruel Fact

31st December 2010
Will mark the last day both mommy & Ethan weekdays stay at mom’s house. This will also symbolizes the end papa’s “maximum freedom” weekdays life back at our own home.

To my parents & grandma, thank you for having to accommodate 2 extras headcount for the past 21 months. Thank you for putting up all the nonsense Ethan had created.

The seniors had done their utmost best to care for Ethan. Whenever he falls sick, they fret & try to soothe the boy to make him a happy kid. Whenever he rejects his food, they try all means & ways to coax him by coming out with the little one’s favorite food so that he will not go hungry. They feel ecstatic over small reactions like a kiss or even a hug from the boy. They take care of every trivial issues concerning the little one.

Not once have they ever complained that they are tired nor have they rejected me when I asked for time off in the evenings to spend some time with friends. Not a word of complaint & not a penny more richer for taking care of Ethan.

There is nothing in this world one would yearned for, having the best of help rendered in taking care of the little one allowing a full time mommy to work in PEACE. I hoped the seniors will be less stress & happier with a kid lesser to fuss & will lead a healthier lifestyle.

3rd January 2011
Will mark the beginning of Ethan’s school life. Yes little one will be attending full day school at the child care just across our house. Someone once told me I was being cruel to put the little one in school when he is not even 3 years old. Thank you for reminding me that but on a serious note, I am left with no other alternative.

I felt bad! I felt lousy. I wanted the best of both worlds. I wanted my parents to take care of Ethan yet at the same time I wanted him to be disciplined in school. But knowing this arrangement is simply impossible, the feeling is atrocious. I was in dilemma struggling mode for a while…

To simply continue our weekdays stay at bp or to balance out family time. I choose the latter !!!

2 years ago on 3rd Oct @ 8am, I checked myself in to Mount Alvernia bravely waiting excitedly for your arrival. Not knowing what to expect, the level of pain mothers have to go through & following blindly what was being told to . This marks the begining to my "can-never-get-enough-sleep" new phase in life.

Although at times you really drive me insane (I really mean INSANE), I can never be angry with you. Your little act, witty smile, fiery temper & stubborn character had brought heaps of splendid moments to the family.

Ethan will be turning 2 in less than a month's time. Time really flies.

Some basic things he picked up over the past 1 month:-
- Operates a CD or DVD player
- Whines & stick like a superglue
- Keeps his shoes in the shoe cabinet at a designated place
(if that particular slot is taken up, he will throw that pair of shoes that takes up his slot on the floor & put his shoes in)

What
- Likes to reply "mai" (no in hokkien - see the potential of being a typical hokkien soldier)
- Tell us he is scared whenever he sees a real airplane or just a picture
- Pronounce banana as 'nana'

I am amazed by how kids learnt from each other.

At 22months, he seems to have grown & apparently understand the instructions given to him.

His favourite cartoon turns out to be Barney (he rejects it initially) & favourite song is the Channel 8 - Monday - Sunday serial show 爱 . From Monday through Friday, he will hume the song @ 7pm.

Just the other day, I was sharing Ethan's progress with my bestie Jus. She enlightened me -- Terrible 2, Notty 3 & Fantastic 4. I was stunned. Ethan, I had always hoped you can be -- Goodie 2, Superb 3 & Amazing 4.

Boys are afterall boys. Friends always tell me no matter how, boys tend to be a level more active than girls. I wonder how true....

Less than 3 months before he turns 2 years of age & the so call NOTTY TWO symptoms had surfaced. As much as I hated to say, he is even more cranky when he is sleeping. He will toss & turn & cry for nothing. ( To make myself feel better, I link this to his notty two)

Another factor might be due to the absence of his pacifier & I deemed myself as doing the right thing for refusing to "return" him the pacifier since he rejected when had HFMD more than a month ago.

His devil behaviour really live up to Ethan's name. Despite being a baby devil, he is still my beloved Ethan..

7th June 2010 (Monday)

- As usual, left for mom's house in the morning at 0730hrs. On the way to mom's house, Ethan had his daily dosage of milk in the taxi.5 minutes drive away from mom's place, Ethan started to feel uncomfortable and vomited everything out on the taxi. I was soaked with his milk vomit. My bag, my outfit, Ethan's bag. Everything.

- Fever started to escalate after this vomiting session but given paracetamol to contain the high fever.

- Cousin Enric was diagnosed with HFMD at 11.30am.

- Mommy panicked. Requested to take a week off as I need to isolate Ethan away from the HFMD Enric.

- Fever continue to escalate @ 3pm. Sponged & fed Ethan with medicine.

- Brought him back to own house. Highest temperature attained 40.1.

- At 2130hr decided to bring him to the 24th hours clinic at Mount Alvernia.

- Despite the little kid having such high fever, we were being put at the isolation corner. Waited for 83mins to be precise just to see the doctor. The sick boy of course feeling hungry & sleepy cried & cried.

- When it was Ethan's turn, the doctor merely took a look at Ethan & diagnosed it as mild throat infection. He said panadol is enough to kill the infection. Unless otherwise we are worried he will get a cough & runny nose. Being paranoid, I requested for the medicine.

- Went home with the irrelevant medicine, all I can do is to feed him with Bhufen (above 38.5 medicine) & panadol drops concurrently.

- Damaged incurred - $45.15

Over the night, Ethan did not sleep well as he is hungry yet unable to drink milk. I had to keep sponging him becos his temperature was way too high.

8th June 2010 (Tuesday)
- Woke up crying, cannot drink & fever still remains so high. So we decided to bring Ethan to see the paediatrician at Kinderclinic.

- Despite having to wait, the waiting time is still shorter than the 24 hours clinic.

- PD diagnosed Hand Foot Mouth Disease & given spray just to numb the ulcer so that Ethan can drink better. PD advised to stay at home for the rest of the week.

- Damage incurred - $83.55

- Ethan continued to feel so uncomfortable. Unable to drink despite hungry. Per swallow of saliva results in pain causing him to yell & scream.

- At one point, his hands tremble when he held his milk bottle yet unable to drink the milk as it is causing him too much pain.

9th - 13th June 2010

At 19th months, he weighs 11.7kg with a height 83.3cm & a head circumference 50.5cm (big head).

Finally finally & finally, Ethan is walking & pacing around the house by himself. He is like a spidery little rat on the loose now.

- always call out for "ma" in a very sweet tone (visualise my blissful look)
- refuse to call for "pa" when requested unless otherwise he wants the father to carry him. If not he will be making a "gee" sound.

A Good Father

Each of us has our own definition of "GOOD". To me a good father is someone who:-

1. makes every effort to play with the child

2. sacrificing his sleep for his son - eg waking up for his night feed , wakes up to put back the pacifier into the child mouth , fan the child when the child is feeling extremely hot

3. makes sure the child favourite toys are being washed before he comes back for the weekend

4. being bullied by the child (hahaha) eg : climbing a long fleet of stairs up on the hill whilst carrying this gem twice over a day.

In simply, he might not be very rich, he might not be very well-educated, he might not be able to bring big bucks home now & he can even postphone playing his favourite hobby - computer games. BUT he spends every quality time with his son.

18 months development

Being 18months old he is still barely walking. I am unsure if it is pure laziness or the slow development in the brain. But he is definitely not a whinny good boy sitting still. He crawls like an itsy bitsy spider, climbs like a gorilla, shouts & screams like a whining boy. People around me had been telling me boys are slower in developments. I wonder how true these statements are. But nevertheless thank you for these assurances.

Am I cool?

Developments of Ethan @ 18months

1. Able to recognise pictures of apple, orange, potty, dog, cat & any food - he will say "mummum"

2. Daddy's boy he is - shouts , yells & screams for his father - papapapapaa & all my neighbours will know that the weekend boy is back.

3. Able to identify at alphabets like A, B & C with some mumblings

4. Call "yaya" despite meeting his grandpa once a week - supposed to be "yeye"

5. Favourite hobby - watches singalong CD & raises up his hands like dancing
I have to admit I like & hate TV. On one hand children will grow to addictive of TV if the parents allow the child to be exposed excessive TV. On the other hand, it does help them to learn children songs.

6. Diaperless in the day - knows how to say "hmm hmm" either to poo or pee. Sometimes he is just playful "hmm hmm" all the time. Most of time he wants to pee. At times we ignore his "hmmmhmm", we end up having to clean the poo on his pants.

These days we enjoy kite flying at Marina Barraage. Even Ethan is soo obessed with the kites in the sky. He will go "wow wow wow". He likes it when we allow him to play with the water at the water fountain ..

Ethan had turned 17 months old begining of March. Being a 17th month old toddler, I should be saying he is quite slow in his progress:-

1. Still crawling like a spidery mouse instead of walking

2. Deposit every single item picked from the floor just like a vaccuum cleaner

3. Owns 12 teeth in total

4. Climbs on anything & everything - escalator, steps, double decker bed, coffee table & many more

5. Shakes his head with every question asked like

- do you want to drink milk, shakes his head yet lie down at the mattress waiting for his milk

- do you wan to eat biscuits , shakes his head yet clapping happily for the biscuit

- do you love mommy , shakes his head yet using his hand to "saynag" my face

It is a growing process when mommies tend to worry about every single stage of their kids growing process.

When they are in our stomach, we tend to eat any food that we deem is beneficial to the baby.

When they came, we tend to worry if they have had enough to drink.

When they start to flip, we tend to worry if they will crawl.

When they are crawling, we tend to worry if they will walk..Now I am at this stage, when is Ethan going to be walking...Generically he is supposed to be walking that is what the books says.

I guessed many more worries ahead. No wonder everyone says, mommies are the greatest in this world.

Those Days..

Today is just one of those darn days when things do not flow as nicely as the way you want it just like a piece of jigsaw puzzle.

Nah.....it should one of those days when one feels frustrated over the slightest darn things. Last day of CNY, I should still be stuck in the joyous mood of celebration & feasting. I am not having menopause nor arguments at home. It is just some emotions running high & dry.

Sometimes it is really hard to attain a balancing point. Friends who stay with in laws will never understand the requirements & responsibilities of a DIL whom stays alone, the need to ensure that the grandchild bonding well with the paternal grandparents on weekends. On the other hand, friends who do not stay with in laws will never understand how hard it is to stay with in laws.

Life is sooo ironic ironic ironic..Reckon I am just too tired trying to juggle & balance it well trying to be a good wife, mother to Ethan, daughter & daughter in law.

Nevertheless, I am still a happy yet tiring working mom.

2010 - Chinese New Year

1st day of CNY at in laws house

Chinese New Year had always been the busiest busiest period especially after we had Ethan...Lots of places to visit, lots of things to buy & not forgetting lots of spring cleaning to be done. With the crawling mouse at home, I can barely do spring cleaning. The only precious time left to do spring cleaning is when he is taking nap in the noon or sleeping at night.

Tongue-Tied

YES as the subject title says.... Ethan is tongue-tied

Been contemplating whether to proceed or to push it to a later date. On this day, the mommy finally decided. To make decision on this, it is really tough trust me. I had been fighting & struggling with myself. Should I or should I not...Who would want to put your gem under general anaesthetic?

What is Tongue-Tied

The generic term for tongue tied is also known as short tongue or Ankyloglossia. The ‘lingual frenum' is the cord that stretches from under the tongue to the floor of the mouth. Tongue-tied is the term used when the lingual frenum is short and restricts the mobility of the tongue. This may result in unclear speech as he grows older next time.

What causes it

Tongue tie often runs in families which means Ethan got it inherited from either the mommy's or father's family. There are more tongue-tied boys than girls.

How did I find out

On 7th November 2009, both mommy & Ethan went to a picnic at changi beach with her ex colleagues..A very observant mommy- Mrs Tham saw Ethan's tongue when he cried & told me this. Trust me, no one around me even my family had noticed that his tongue curved in at the tip forming a heart shape.

Thereafter, went to 2 Paediatricians to seek opinions on this and was being referred to a Paediatric Urology who suggested to have surgery ASAP. As tongue tied will often affect a child's speech as he grows older. I was so even surprised that new born babies also went for surgery..

How is it treated

The treatment for tongue-tie is a simple operation called a frenulotomy. A doctor snips the string at the base of the tongue, called the frenulum, with special scissors. Bladeless & no bleeding with just some sore.

Today,28th January 2010 (Thursday), we checked into Mount Alvernia Day Surgery Ward at 7am preparing for the 9am operations The toughest task is to fast. Ethan has to fast for 6 hours. Which means from 3am onwards, no milk no food & not even water...We reached there, check in & Ethan has to change into the hospital robe. At about 830am he started feeling hungry & cranky. We took out all sorts of toys to divert his attention but to no avail. He jusgt wants his milk & get out from the ward.

Doctor came at 915am, the father has to accompany the son into the operating theatre as I could not bring myself to see Ethan being pinned down by the nurses so as to breathe in the "sleeping gas". I was being told the surgery will be done & finished shortly. True enough, about 15 minutes after I left the father & son, both reappear from the theatre door with Ethan crying & a stone look in him as he had just slept & awoke.

He cried becos he is hungry & the numbness in his tongue. Continue crying becos he is hungry yet not allowed to consume any milk till 1015am. What we did was to give him the magic PSP (also useless), all he wanted was the biscuits from the dispensing machine outside the ward. Believed me, his cries will definitely gained lots of sympathy points.

Being a rebellious mom, I could not bear the thought of Ethan extensive crying. So I went to make some milk in a small container, bought the biscuits from the dispensing machine & started feeding him with biscuits crumbs & milk using the spoon. Though he had not drank alot, at least it filled partial of the stomach.

Thereafter he went back to the bed in the ward & sleep till it was time for discharge. Back home, he is the same cheery like boy though i know there is still some soreness. What amazes me now is he can stick out his tongue like a normal kid.

I would rather I suffer on his behalf than having Ethan to inflict any pain. Ethan when you read this, please forgive me for making you go through this painful task. Maybe I was a nasty bad hearted person in my previous life that is why is repayment time..

A typical day at mom's house

On a fairier note, Ethan is also not someone to be trifled with. He will use his secret weapon "the pacifier" to throw at the "someone". I am soo glad he knows how to protect himself.. Boys no matter how are boys who will fight all the time.

This weekend, Ethan seems to have grown. He seems to take simple instructions like :-

1. Look at in the sky - Point into the sky & say "blah"

2. Drink your milk- he will lie down on the floor

3. Going out - "khai khai"

4. Watch TV - sit down on the floor & stare at the TV

On the same note, he loved a brown teddy (someone give it to me sometime ago)..He kisses, hug it & carry it with him when he sits the walker...Even though I replaced the teddy bear with a same size "POPEYE", he screamed & yelled as if opposing my action as he only wanted that bear..This is the soft soft side of Ethan..

Being a fussy mom, I should be saying I hated Ethan to be a TV addict. He is soooo glued to a certain DVD..So we have had no choice but to convert the DVD into the PSP so that whenever we go out, in 1 way or the other should he behaves cranky, the magic is to draw out the PSP just to keep him occupy.

This son...likes this disc from Baby genius which shows nursery songs like Old Mac, BINGO, Apples & Bananas, Row your boat...etc and it lasted 30 mins to complete the whole show.When the show ended, he will gestured to tell us -- nomore....

I awoken with a fright as I heard a "POP" sound like a durian drop from a tree

Same sound as durian sound during my kampung childhood days

I found this little gem on the floor like a little baby frog

when I asked Ethan what happen?

he cried..That freaking moment I sweared my heart just pondered

But his fall was not a powerful one cos he rolled down from the bed onto a matteress

Ethan turns 11 months old today.

Being a 11 month old baby, he request attention from us every single minute. Back home, he will usually be put on the walker for him to explore the house for new things so as to keep himself entertained. He often talks, yells, screams, laughs or calls for help if he is lonely or being left unattended whilst the mommy is so pre-occupied with household chores & many more.

But if he is quietly tucked away in a corner, there you find him up to some real mischief. He will either tiptoe trying to reach for something or his hands will be holding on to some new found toy like our handphone..etc.

From the corner of the room, I called for him asking “Ethan what are you doing?” He replies with a smile broadly spread across his face. How can I not love him more & more each day??

On this day, the fellow rolled down to the floor from the bed of course 1st time (hoped no more next time).

At 4.06am Singapore time, I woke up in fright cos I heard a "pop" sound. There he is the little fellow had kicked all the blanket, pillows & bolster onto the floor. Ended up on the floor still in his dreamland. The sleeping arrangement at mom's house is in such a way only the top & bottom is proned to dangers & blocked by the pillows, blankets & bolster,big ones...Right & left is blocked by me & my mom respectively. Still he can wiggle his way down down onto the floor.

Luckily, Enric was sleeping on a mattress besides the bed. The mattress left a narrow 15cm gap from the bed to the mattress. AND amazingly is, Enric's small pillow fits into the corner portion & Ethan happens to roll exactly into that spot. I have to thank GOD in all race & religion for protecting this precious gem of mine.

14082009 is such a happening day afterall.Thank you all for the well wishes, cakes, gifts, dinner... I am so blessed with all my loved ones around.

Day 313 of my life with Ethan..The world is such a wonderful place to live in.

At 10months old, this baby had upgraded from a baby to a toddler. He has 3 tiny teeth & likes to munch on biscuits. With him around, there is non a FREE moment. Either my time is fully utilised or even stretched like a rubber band by him or pre-occupied trying to complete the housework even with him yelling at the bakground. Gone are the days I stayed late to watch DVD or VCD.

At 9 months old, he is gradually upgrading his skills;

1. Raises his hands & flocks towards the person he want to be carried

2. Recognises simple words like "kai kai = go out", "mumu = eat", baobao = carry", pongpong = bathe"

3. Sulk when he sees a stranger occassionally
(does it inferes that he is an anti-social person? Inherited whose genes. Definitely not mine)

4. Change position within a few seconds
(No longer the baby who will sit still. Now his hands has to hold on to something or he fidgets his way)

5. A baby who is simply scared of ticklish....Laugh hilariously when we tickle his shoulder or just holding on to his feet.

6. Finally 2 little teeth (Day 269) from the bottom gums appear. No wonder he turns cranky & had fever on the last week of June & stuff every single items into his mouth when he lay his hands on.

With Ethan, my dinner & outing with friends had minimized & had been postphoning & postphoning. Sorry ladies..u know who u are :)

I am a lazy mommy BUT very HAPPY mommy. Juz simply lazy to update the blog... due to insufficient time. Every day mad mad day..wake up play with Ethan-rush to work-finish work-go back help take care of Ethan. I cannot even find time for myself ....

At this stage of Ethan's growing up process, he is very much a mommy or even a papa's boy.

He tends to flip(only 1 sided flip) over a few times in the middle of the night. Unable to flip back he make baby noise to wake me up & smile @ me. Then he falls into sleep with his face flat to the bed the moment I smiled back. I reckon he is just seeking attention from me.

He likes to eat eat eat & turns grouchy when he is not able to. At 7mths with no teeth, there is only a limited variety of food I can feed it. Being home alone last weekend, Ethan ate whatever I ate. Both of us had chocolate ice-cream from Awfully chocolate, fried hor fun from the coffee shop & instant mix rice cereal.

I am glad that I had spent all my time with him. For the past 7+ plus month, the only night that Ethan had not slept with me was on Aunty Eunice's wedding. Imagine now that he is at Day 238, I slept with my darling boy 237 days...wow impressive !!

Gosh am loving him more & more each day....

Mommies greatest fear -- Notty kids.

Everyday when I reach my mom's house, the seniors will feedback to me what Ethan had done for the day. I am like "Oh Gosh, Ethan is a notty baby". Each day I hear new things & I am beginning to wonder, are all kids like that or only the exceptional notty ones behave like that?

The seniors will always feedback & commented how can a 6 month old baby:-
1. Choose the person he prefers to carry him
2. Uses his leg to lift up any items near to his leg area to play
3. Talks as if someone is talking to him in baby language
4. Yells at the slightest discomfort

Aren't babies supposed to be eating & sleeping all the time....

Just so happen talked to my sister on the phone earlier, she mentioned kids are a reflection of either the past or present the behaviour of their parents. I totally agreed is true..But, am I like that when I was young? OR am I like that currently?

And my conclusion, Ethan takes after the father - Loke cos I am a clone in disguised.

Being a 180 days old baby, Ethan's cries no longer sounds like new born babies. He loved to yell & scream & laugh out hilariously at the slightlest facial expression one makes.

Protruding Belly Button

Ethan has this enormous belly button protruding out. The seniors at home said that it was due to the constant crying resulting in excessive "wind" getting into his stomach. Whilst others said that the belly button was not thoroughly cleansed when the umbilical cord was "disconnected" from the belly button.

His mommy is still trying to apprehend what is the real explanation behind it.......

Personalized Pillow

This personalised bean sprout pillow is from Aunty Lindy. See Ethan's height :). The pillow is almost equivalent to his height.

The bean sprout pillow is used to be laid on the babies chest as they are more prone to be frightened by sudden movement & noises causes by the surroundings. This will thus give them a sense of security as they feel being cuddled in the mummy's arms or even in the womb. At the same time, it acts as cushioning to the loud noises & movement thus prevent shocking them.

Thank you for the pillow with mommy's favourite colour.

Finally back from my mom's house after 4days-3nights stay as Ethan is grouchy & cranky after the jab. Felt so re-charged that my parents & grandmom are there to help out. It is so stressed-free @ mom's house as I get to sleep to the maximum (instead of waking up 3 times nightly), go out to dine with friends & most importantly spending quality time with Ethan & my nephew Jaden.

My mom made these for Ethan & all my nephews...It is tailor-to-make & not everyone has the chance to wear these "AH PEI" pants..Sooooo authentic right. Baby Asher also has this tailor-to-make pants as well.....

Ethan went for his 1st jab - 6-in-1* immunization today. He is 6 weeks old as of today & weighs 4.884kg & 52cm tall comparing to his birth weight & height of 2.99kg & 49cm respectively . This was mainly contributed to his rountine BI-HOURLY feed day & night.

Gosh!!! The PD commented " Your son can really cry out loud" after the needle was "poked" into his flesh..I joking told the PD" all the patients waiting outside must have ran off "..

Juz hoping he will not be dominated by the fever virus after the jab. Otherwise, will have to "tabao" & pack my bag to camp over at my mom's house.

* Dear folks, 6-in-1 covers : - Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, HepB, Polio & Hamemophilus unfluenzae.

Being a typical Singaporean mom, Ethan will also be taking jabs for chicken pox, pneumococcal & rotavirus ..

Ethan has grown....An updated picture of our dearie boy :)

The mommy felt so refreshed after having a 3days 2nights stay at mommy's mommy's house - Ethan's grandmom. There are so many helpers around to fuss over Ethan whilst we were there -- SO FORTUNATE.

Now we are back to our own house when Ethan has to be alone when he yells for food.

"Its addictive, dun give your child the pacifier." .. "The teeth willl grow out of place"..

These are the common answers when mommies are being asked why are their babies not being given pacifier? Pacifier are also commonly known as "baby comforter".

Many of us are against babies "sucking" pacifier but I am left with not much choice. This chap has the tendancy of yelling for food practically hourly. The main reason why I allowed him to have the pacifier is hopefully to reduce the amount of air getting into his stomach - colic at the same time encouraging him to sleep longer.

I hoped I am not a bad mommy who had introduced lousy habit to baby Ethan.

The 1st thing that I do daily morning is to go over to Ethan's room making sure he is sleeping , breathing (typical paranoid behaviour) & giving him a morning kiss. (I know my mouth stinks cos i rushed over to see him even before I brush my teeth)

This morning as usual I went over & got a shock. His right face has an additional of 8 shocking RED "pimples or polkadots"...... Being a paranoid mommy, I searched through the baby books & surfed the net for more information.

Answer : Either mosquito bite or just pimple like (all babies will have & will slowly die off)

I just have to wait & see...

Ethan's sleeping posture reminds me of a good friend cum sister in Melbourne.

Recalled the good old days when we camp over at a friend's house, with 3-4 girls sharing a Queen size bed . This posture alone takes up 1/2 the bed.

Baby Ethan had juz turned 10 days old today!! Recalled 10 days ago when I was still struggling in the delivery ward.. Past 10 days had indeed made an impact in my life as well as the daddy's life too. We MATURED as a newly promoted parents ;)

Turning Point - 3rd October 2008

3rd October 2008, the turning point to my life. Everything changes....

This little cutie weighing 2.99kg & measures 49cm in height popped into this wild wild world unexpected at 11.40am Singapore time. Thought it was a false alarm initially. For friends who know me well enough, they all knew I had this paranoid yucky character in me....OCD behaviour. Luckily I managed to complete all my housework & spoke to my bestest friends - Hayley & Diana from the other side of the globe before admitting myself into the hospital where the torturous 3 hours of intensive labour pain begins.

Deeply gratified to my speedy response gynac who make this delivery so smooth & fast..& also friends whom I spoke to when I was in the delivery ward undergoing the intensive pain.(u know who u are)

Godmoms, Sisters, Bosses, friends & loved ones, a BIG THANK YOU to all for the wishes, lucks ,blessings, gifts & flowers. Ethan Loke arrived safely & behaving well despite being new to this world.....

My 1st blog will be dedicated to the 3 cuties. In fact they are the JOY of my LIFE. Do not be mistaken, they are my nephews ;)

- Jaden (e boy in green stripe) will be turning 5 years of age tis December.

- Enric (e boy in white top) will be turning 4 years of age tis November.

- Kendric (e baby) will be celebrating his 1st birthday in December. Both Enric & Kendric are brothers..

I recalled how time flies when my 3 cuties were still babies. They definitely bring the family - much closer & stronger with us hovering around each other @ the slightest sound the babies made. The slightest reaction brought me sweet & wonderful dreams in my la-la-la-land.

Can you imagine when my eldest nephew 1st started smiling, crawling, sitting up, 1st step of walking & talking blah-blah-blah this & that. You visualised when he said "Yiyi I love you". Not only that it comes with a hug & a peck on your cheek. Now it becomes a weekly Saturday Macdonald session that I shared with my sister & family. This had been on-going since Jaden was 1.5 years of age.

These are the wonderful tots that all engraved in my memories. No matter how tired you are, these kids will perk you up. Trust me, it is definitely worth the efforts.
